I spent ten years dressing people — executives, athletes, grooms, men starting over — and almost nothing I learned was about clothes.
What I learned is that most people are misread. Not disliked, not underestimated exactly. Misread. The version of someone that walks into a room is rarely the version that exists. Sometimes a jacket closes that gap. Far more often the jacket was never the problem, and the interesting question is what was.
House of Style is the long way into that question. Every episode is one filmed conversation with somebody who has thought carefully about how they live, published whole, with no lesson stapled to the end. I end up asking the same thing in all of them: what did you keep, what did you drop, and why.
Style isn’t a look. It’s the way you build your life — and everyone is building one.

The short version
I’m Grant Alexander. I live in Chicago and I have two daughters, which is its own education in being watched closely. Before this there was corporate communications, then creative direction, then a styling company I built from sixty dollars in the red to six figures in nine months. Along the way: Good Morning America, WGN, FOX, and a feature in WWD.
Somewhere in the middle of it I mailed a handwritten letter to the CEO of Brooks Brothers to tell him the brand had gone old and outdated. That instinct — say the true thing, to the person who can actually do something about it — is most of my professional method, for better and occasionally for worse.
What this isn’t
It isn’t a business podcast and it isn’t advice. Nobody here is going to hand you five habits. The conversations run long because the useful part is almost never the part that summarises well.
Why I keep making it
Because the questions are ones I actually need answered. I’m rebuilding a good deal of my own life in public and taking notes while I do it. If one line out of one of these conversations stays with you for a week, that is the entire point of the exercise.
I also run Grant Alexander Studio, which builds executives’ public presence. For guest pitches, press, or anything else: hello@houseofstyle.com.
